A History of Questionable Practices

In the past several years, Charles Schwab Corporation has come under increasing fire from federal regulators. In 2000, the company's US Trust division was fined $10 million over allegations of money laundering. In 2003, Charles Schwab was among the companies investigated for fraud by the SEC. Specific allegations included illegal late trading and market manipulation. As a result of this investigation, Charles Schwab paid an additional fine of $350,000 to the SEC.

The SEC has been successful in punishing Charles Schwab and other brokerage firms for fraud and other misconduct. Now it is time for the consumers who were hurt to have a powerful advocate.

Schwab YieldPlus Funds

Recently individuals with investments in the Schwab YieldPlus Funds have experienced significant losses.  The Schwab YieldPlus Funds were presented to potential investors as limited risk investments but with fund mismanagement and the down turn in the market were subject to large losses.  The Schwab YieldPlus Funds Investor Shares (SWYSX) and Schwab YieldPlus Funds Select Shares (SWYPX) fell between 9% & 17% in 2008.
